I wanna be a dolphin

The cartoon where the alligator complaints that he wants to be a dolphin set me thinking :

Though scientists say dolphins are not all pretty and friendly
They can be vicious and hunt in packs with other fish not so friendly
But when I think of them every time
I get a smile on my face every time
The best images are of pods in waves
Leaping and flipping tails in the waves
There is something fun and carefree
Makes my soul rise up, all free
I want to dance in the waves with them
I want to race in the water with them
Feel the water rushing and caressing
The skin tingles with the water caressing
The dolphin song strums the heartstrings
Making me vibrate to the strum of the strings
There is music humming in my heart
Joy leaping in the every part
I could sit on the rocks and watch the dolphins for ever
They would give me joy and peace for ever
Oh what a wonderful way to pass the time of the day
The waves, the birds, the dolphins and maybe a kangaroo or two would make a lovely day!

Rising from the Ashes

Despair is dark
Like a black mark
That will not go away
And hold total sway
If left unchecked
It will deepen till checked
It is an effort to think
But if I want to go towards the light’s brink
I must take those steps
A slow struggle to move up those steps
After all it is what I want
More than anything I can ever want
To see the light after despair
Makes it a victory over despair
Slowly I build my tattered self
Takes time to repair the self
Is this the strength I have lacked?
Spirituality rarely backed?
Becoming stronger is all in the mind
Spirituality finally strengthens the mind
Making me grow more patient
With others and self, more patient
 Accept what cannot be changed
Instead of fighting for all to be changed
Build my faith in that which is bigger than all
Try to be kind to one and all
Forgive those who hurt me
Forgive those who neglect me
That does not kill us, makes us stronger
But who says what is stronger?
I feel stronger mentally and spiritually
Though not recovered physically
Live every day as if it is the last
Take the pleasures and make them last
Beautiful flowers swaying in the breeze
Butterflies dancing in the breeze
Rustling of the leaves in the breeze
Clean washing fluttering in the breeze
The birds chirping multitude of songs
My heart dances to the songs
The black despair held at bay for another day
But it’s my victory for another day
Keeping the darkness that can never be far away
For pain has a way for finding a way
Still am thankful for the strength I have gained
Strength of soul that I have gained

Happy Place

What I want is that dream place
Where I can be myself place
The peace descends around me
The joy slowly filling in me
A nice long beach white and bright
Making the eyes squint in the light
The warmth of the sand between my toes
The waves come rolling in, cooling the toes
As I stroll along the edge of the sea
With the sky as blue as it can be
Gentle breeze and the murmur of waves
A soothing balm that my heart craves
I can listen to the sound of the sea
A very different world that is the sea
But I am happy to walk at its end
The sight and the sounds of sea all tend
To fill me with a peace and joy that is hard to explain
The clouds drifting slowly across the blue
Like cotton fluffs white dotting the blue
Even the vapour trail of a plane flying high
Does not disturb this tranquil sky
I would love to swim in this big open sea
However I am content to just see
Dream of the pleasure of water over my skin
As I can feel it drifting over my skin
Massaging my feet gently
As it flows and recedes gently
The sounds of nature today are soothing
Leaving me dreaming

Tedium and happiness

Well I am back to work. Getting into the swing of things is hard especially after a long break. I seem to be in 'helping out' mode and hope to get the some idea of what I should be doing this year. Aside from that I am happy as I have time to spend on doing my thesis. Waiting for things to happen is the most tedious thing for me. So I thought I will have a few minutes break and do my blog.

The most interesting thing I have heard today is a new research is out about how to be happy! The best way to do this is by taking a minute everyday and remembering what was the best thing that you did or achieved or that happened to you in th last 24 hours. Also smiling for a short while too is useful. Am sure there are other ways suggested by this research done at University of Hertfordshire. But hearing it in the BBC news early morning did put a smile on my face!!!

So I guess I am happy despite the waiting and helping out... after all there is some constructive activity there.....
