New Friend

The meeting of eyes across a crowded room

Many a friend I met this way

Now life has changed, crowds are in a virtual room

Full of strangers or rather friends of friends if you may

What is it that makes you reach out?

Whether in reality or virtual world

Is it some trait perceived or a recognised shout

From a soul that knows you from another world?

This feeling of joy at meeting someone

Is so very precious as long as it lasts

For that person could just be a transitory one

Soon becoming lost in the mist of past

A few stay forever if you are lucky

And they give you love and care

Receiving your love and care makes them feel lucky

Oh the joy of meeting someone with whom you can share

Sometimes you start with a single thing in common

Making is hard to see how friendship can flourish

Building of a friendship requires all the skills you can summon

Time strengthens it, never to diminish

In a life time these true friends are few

So you better learn to recognise the friend

When you meet someone new

And hold on forever to the friend

Share the joy of knowing

The joy of sharing your soul

Share the joy of caring

The joy of meeting another soul

Thought

Into the mind a thought floated like a drop reaching the ocean

I have not written much for a while now

Nothing seems to set the muse in motion

What has effected my thoughts and know how?

Does being preoccupied with aches and pain

Detract from the thinking process?

Thoughts are slow and brain seems not to gain

The fruits of thinking process

Surely it is the cold that saps your power

As energy is all going to keep you warm

To get started in the morning you need a hot shower

To awaken the muscles and bones alive and warm

Maybe the process of keeping warm

Is carried out while thinking

Do firing impulses make the brain and body warm?

Or is this cold screwing up my thinking?

I thought to try and decipher this lack of muse

Or is it the absence of motivating mind

The thoughts are random and need to fuse

Only then the poetry my mind shall find
